Monday May 16

full day of fun-tivities occupied my time in Istanbul Monday.

We started at Tokapi Palace. The last Sultan of the Ottoman Empire lived here.
Fanny Packs are where it's at. they are so handy and so convenient. hands free, and as if you need anymore convincing... Chuck Norris wears a fanny pack!

The Palace looked over the beautiful Bosporus sea.

No pictures allowed inside the relic portion of this, but believe me i wanted to! they had moses's staff, john the baptists skull, Muhammad's beard and tooth, the biggest diamond in the world, and if rumors are true they have an actual real life T-Rex in the back. (who wants to play 5 truths and a lie??)
Next on the agenda was the Blue Mosque.
Some may recognize it from Star Wars...
it was beautiful inside, and decorated with accents of blue.
We then went to the market place and saw this beauty. to rub in our faces further that we weren't going to Egypt...
But you know what? I don't think any one really minded we weren't in Egypt. Turkey was amazing.
We went into the Underground Cistern
The brave ones looked into the eyes of Medusa (legend goes if you look into your eyes you will be turned to stone)
We also got a quick shop stop at the GRAND BAZAAR! LARGEST SUUK IN THE WORLD!
No, we didn't end there, we did nothing other than hopped straight on a boat, and cruised along the Bosphorus Sea.
But of course, me and my luck, before the cruise even started i smacked the back of my head on a bar... got a goose egg the size of a regular ol' chicken's egg, and had a splintering head ache the rest of the day. (and of course Tyson couldn't help but laugh at me)
still with the headache...
and still...
We crossed under the bridge that connects Europe to Asia, pretty neat.

Caleb, every single boat reminded me of you and ryan. i could see you guys sailing around the world in this bad boy.
we stopped at the end of the straight for some din-din. did i eat this fishy? no way jose. why in the world would i eat something that is looking at me?!
but just so Bryan wouldn't poke fun at me I picked up the skinned fish for a pic. disgusting? yes, but i did it for you Bro! :)
Me +J. Twiggs then tried to do an epic jumping pic. two fails but i still call it a success!
After dinner we had some free time to explore the city. I found this sweet little store. Mace-face i miss you dearly. i can't believe you are home and i still haven't talked to you! ahh!
We got some ice-cream in a silly looking cone. more like a ice-cream sandwich. d-to the-lish.
And of course ended the day with a Turkish Delight. because how could we not?
explore the world. new culture. new places. nothing makes my heart sing louder.
it is written.
...Oh and watch your head while on boats!
