Day 5, the scriptures come alive

Listen to this while you enjoy this post.

Field trips around here look like this:
headsets to get you plugged in.
and lessons taught by our Old Testament teacher, Brother Judd.

We visited a lot of places today, but this was one of my favorites.
Saint Augustine's Chapel.
(there are a lot of pics of this chapel, but to save you the boredom i choose one to enhance my favorite part... the striped walls... (pardon the irreverence, but it looks like Dr. Seuss designed the building.--In a GOOD way, mind you)

like any good field trip, we got sack lunches for our hungry bellies.

We also visited the historical burial place of the prophet samuel...
(we divided into 2 parts of the synagogue to see the empty casket)
((i just liked the sign))

One thing i love about the Holy Land is how dedicated those of faith are. There are tons of devoted followers praying at holy sites. i spied on two cute Jewish lovers from a far and took some pics.. i hope that's okay. they were too cute to resist.

Behind the burial place of the Prophet Samuel was Gibeon. We read Joshua 10:8-14 while looking over the valley. (for the lazy ones who don't want to find scriptures, here's a link) and for those who scriptures hurt the brain sometimes here's a quick recap:

People tricked Joshua, and asked to stay in there land for free and work for them.
Joshua said yes.
Then he found out they were bad guys so he decided to enslave them rather then going back on his word and taking back the land.
They came to war with his people.
God sent HUMONGOUS hail from the heavens and killed many of the bad guys.
Joshua said: "Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon."
and the sun stayed and the moon stayed until his people had complete revenge on the bad guys.
Moral of the story:
God performs miracles in YOUR favor. Sometimes he commands the sun to stand still, and others he sends HUMONGOUS hail, but no matter what he does, we must always look for the miracles in our lives, and praise our God for the miracles he has performed for our sakes.

in case you needed a tiny bit more explanation here is one final visual image:
(note nobody was harmed in the taking of this picture)

find the miracles. recognize God's hand.
it is written.
