day one one, I can't believe how much i've DONE!

Today was our first FREE DAY! No class equals explore explore explore. so just a brief run down on today's activity list:

St. George Cathedral + School... CHECK.

(Remember? George, the dragon slayer, obviously)

don't ever be too busy to smell the roses. (especially when they smell like grapefruit)

moving on from St. George's we went to the Citadel of David.
On the way there we couldn't help but snap a few pictures of the Old City.
See something new everyday.
Na mean?

got to the citadel of David where Ritvka was our friendly volunteer tour guide from New Jersey.
(no the lady on the left is not ME, i have not changed THAT much since being here. she was just another tourist that happened to join our group with her husband... i may or may not have tried to get her in the picture... just saying.)

we ate sack lunches in the garden at the citadel and for dessert we escaped to west jeru to find a bakery. I found this bad boy for 13 shekels and was proud to say that i ate it ALL by myself. i was full for the rest of the day.

before i forget, happy mother's day MOM! i love you! these beautiful sunflowers would have been yours if i had a way to get them to you. i bought them in a market just for YOU!

God took the fragrance
Of a
flower
The majesty of a
tree
The gentleness of morning
dew
The calm of a quiet
sea
The beauty of the
twilight hour
The soul of a
starry night
The laughter of a
rippling brook
The grace of a
bird in flight
Then God fashioned from these things
A creation
like no other,
And when his masterpiece was through
He called it simply -
Mother.
Herbert Farnham

to end our day we walked through the Holy Seplechure on the way home.

(notice people rubbing items on the rock/cleaning the rock/crying and praying on the rock. don't worry everyone i knelt by it and rubbed it and put my forehead to it too. when in jerusalem...)
(some priests lighting candles)

and that was my day! wish you were here.

it is written.

  1. Oh, I sure miss you. But Ken called today, said she was bored and that she didn't know what to do, said she usually calls you when that happens. Weird that it made my day, might be the only plus of you being too far away to call :)

  2. I remember going there! How awesome to see you there! The kid's school in Spokane is St. George's School and they are the dragons :)
